Nominated Senator Tabitha Mutinda has commended Governor Mutahi Kahiga for attending President William Ruto's recent tour of Nyeri County.
Speaking on Wednesday, April 2, Mutinda described him as a true leader, noting that leadership is about prioritizing the needs of the people over political differences.
"I really want to appreciate the Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga. That's a true leader; he said that my people need to get development. He did what a leader would do; he was present, he gave the President respect and welcomed him," she stated.
Kahiga is among local leaders who accompanied Ruto to his Nyeri County development tour on Tuesday, April 1.
Speaking while addressing the crowd, Kahiga expressed his appreciation to Ruto after visiting the county, noting that locals deserve a fair share of government projects having overwhelmingly voted for the government in the 2022 General Elections.

He dismissed any opposition to Ruto's visit to the region, stating that his presence was crucial in driving development initiatives.
“The President should not be told not to come to Nyeri; we want him to come again and again to bring us development. We are the ones who voted for this government and we deserve development," he said.

Ruto began a five-day development tour of the Mt. Kenya region on Tuesday, marking his first extensive visit to the region since the impeachment of his former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua in October 2024.
The tour spans nine counties, namely Laikipia, Nyeri, Meru, Kirinyaga, Nyandarua, Murang’a, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi and Kiambu.
On the first day, Ruto kicked off the tour in Laikipia County, where he was met with a warm reception from large crowds in areas like Rumuruti and Nanyuki.
Key activities included flagging off the Last Mile Connectivity Programme, delivering a school bus to Dr. Wachira Secondary School in Kiamariga, and allocating Ksh10 million to Naromoru Junior School in Nyeri County, emphasizing education and community development.
The tour follows Ruto’s arrival at Sagana State Lodge on Monday, March 31, where he engaged with locals and participated in a media interview with vernacular stations.
On Wednesday, Ruto is scheduled to visit Meru and Kirinyaga.
