Evojo Primary School in Vihiga County has been closed indefinitely after dismembered remains of a human body were found inside a latrine.
Speaking on Tuesday, May 6, Deputy Headteacher Oscar Changilwa confirmed the chilling incident, stating that the discovery was made by a pupil.
He noted that classes had just commenced for early morning remedial lessons when the discovery was made.
According to Changilwa, teachers and students had arrived at the school by 7 AM, unaware of the horror that awaited them.
"We are saddened that such an act has occurred. We just resumed school the other day after burying our headteacher. We arrived at the school and one of our pupils went to the toilet and came back telling us that he had seen a head in the toilet," he told reporters.

After the pupil raised alarm, Changilwa and other teachers rushed to the latrine where they confirmed presence of human remains.
"All the teachers ran to the scene, and when I poured water on it, I confirmed it was a human head. That is when I called the relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Education and Teachers' Service Commission (TSC) and DCI," he added.
The school immediately alerted the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the Ministry of Education, and police officers, who are now handling the case.
The latrines have been demolished, and students have been sent home.
The incident has dealt a fresh emotional blow to the institution, which is still reeling from the recent loss of its headteacher.
Authorities have yet to release details regarding the identity of the deceased or how the body ended up in the school latrine.
