Radio Citizen was ranked as the most listened to radio station in 2024 at 12 per cent, followed by Classic 105 at 7 per cent.


A report by the Media Council of Kenya (MCK) shows that Citizen TV was the most watched TV station in Kenya in 2024.

In the State of Media Survey report released on Thursday, May 15, Citizen TV was ranked most popular at 53 per cent, followed by Inooro TV, which is also owned by RMS, at 6 per cent.

K24 and NTV tied in 3rd place with a rank of 5 per cent, while Maisha TV took 5th place with a rank of 4 per cent.

DSTV, KTN Home and Ramogi TV tied with a rank of 3 per cent.

"From the respondents, Citizen TV emerged as the most watched TV station at 53%, an increase from 35% in the 2023 survey. Inooro TV came in second at 6%, K24 and NTV were tied at 5%, with both dropping from 11% and 7% in the last year. The new entrant into the space was DSTV," read the report in part.

Radio Stations

Radio Citizen was ranked as the most listened to radio station in 2024 at 12 per cent, followed by Classic 105 at 7 per cent.

The other radio stations were: Radio Jambo (6 per cent), Inooro FM (5 per cent), Kameme FM (5 per cent), Milele FM (4 per cent), Radio Maisha (4 per cent), Radio 47 (4 per cent) and Ramogi FM (3 per cent).

News Websites - Nairobi Leo is among the most visited websites in Kenya 

In the ranking, Tuko.co.ke emerged as the most visited news site with a rank of 40%. 

This was followed by Citizen Digital (20 percent), Nation Africa (13%), Standardmedia.co.ke (11%), Pulselive.co.ke (5%). Kenyans.co.ke (4%) and the Star.co.ke (2%).

Ghafla, Kenya Moja, Mpasho and Nairobileo.co.ke tied at 1%.

"Tuko emerged as the most popular news website, with a notable readership of 40% in 2024 compared to 33% recorded in 2023. It is followed by Citizen Digital (20%) and Nation Africa (13%)."

"Nation Africa, Standard.co.ke, and pulse live.co.ke had a significant positive change in terms of the most visited news website in 2024," read the report in part.

Newspapers

34% of respondents indicated that they read Daily Nation, which is a drop from the 2023 survey, which indicated 35% of Kenyans read the newspaper. The Standard followed with 20%, this was also a drop of 1% compared the the previous year. Taifa Leo was at (11%), Citizen Weekly (9%), and Business Daily (8%), People Daily (5%), The Star (5%), The Nairobian (4%), and My Gov (3%).

"East African is read by 1% of Kenyans. From the survey, most Kenyans purchase the newspaper for News, Politics, My Gov, sports, adverts, betting, read opinion pages, education and pullouts," MCK noted in its report.
