Investigative journalist Njeri Mwangi broke down while addressing the media regarding the detention of her husband, Boniface Mwangi, in Tanzania.
While addressing the media on Wednesday, May 21, Njeri was overwhelmed with emotions as she sought information regarding the whereabouts of her husband.
In her speech, she called on Tanzanian authorities to release the activist, adding that the authorities were violating his rights.
“I last spoke to Boniface on Monday afternoon. The Tanzanian authorities are saying they have deported him, but why is there no communication? Where is Bonnie?” she posed.
“Give us back Boniface, wounded or dead. It has been very agonising for my family, and it is not fair or right what they are doing to him.”

Boniface Mwangi was arrested by Tanzanian authorities after he travelled to the neighbouring country.
Unlike other Kenyans who have been detained and deported in recent days, including Martha Karua, Mwangi is yet to be deported.
According to Boniface Mwabukusi, the President of the Tanganyika Law Society, Mwangi is still being held by immigration officials.
It was also revealed that the human rights activist was arrested for allegedly providing false information regarding his visit to Tanzania.
Mwangi visited Tanzania at a time when there were court proceedings for Tundu Lissu, a Tanzanian opposition leader who is facing treason charges.
Notably, President Samia Suluhu of Tanzania has accused foreign activists of interfering with the internal affairs of Tanzania.
"We should not allow them; they have already destabilized their country. The only country that has not been destabilized, where people are peaceful, is here (Tanzania)," she remarked.
