"Governor Mbarire, that's how things go, don't cry, just move on."

Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has waded into the ongoing political storm surrounding Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire, following her recent claims of being undermined by individuals within government.

In a statement on Monday, June 2, Khalwale noted that Mbarire's situation is a consequence of internal political decisions made at the expense of United Democratic Alliance (UDA) founding members.

He further accused UDA of sidelining the party's original members, blaming those very moves for UDA’s current internal instability.

"Out of the blue, Governor Cecily Mbarire was elevated to National Chairperson, and Cleophas Malala was brought in from the ANC Party to become the Secretary General of UDA.

"Ostensibly, this was done to remove Senator Muthama and to teach Boni Khalwale a lesson, both of whom were founding members of UDA. Now, UDA is in disarray. Governor Mbarire, that's how things go, don't cry, just move on," he said.

Speaking on Sunday, June 1, Mbarire who also serves as the UDA national chairperson claimed that some government officials are plotting against her.

She questioned why some government officials were undermining her despite her strong support for President William Ruto and the current administration.

Mbarire alleged that the government officials hold night meetings in Embu to undermine elected leaders in the county.

"You all know that I am the chairperson of the UDA party, and if there’s anyone who has been targeted for supporting the government, it’s me. I have started noticing that some people are plotting against me, and these are people within the very government I fight for every day.

“Those officers from Nairobi who are coming to Embu to hold night meetings to undermine elected leaders, they have no respect and act like they understand Embu politics better than we do, while we are working around the clock to support this government,” she said.

Mbarire also threatened to mention the names of the government officials if they continued plotting against her.

"We are telling them to stop. They know themselves, and if they continue, I will mention them by name. I have been in politics for a long time, so they shouldn’t mess with me. Otherwise, I will speak out,” she added.

Further, Mbarire demanded respect from the government officials and asked them not to take her support for President Ruto for granted.

"I will not allow you to bring political wars from Nairobi to Embu. Dare you come back to Embu again, and we will face each other. Stop looking down on people as if they are nothing.

"I am a leader elected by the people of Embu County, and you are going to respect me. Don’t take our support for President Ruto for granted,” she stated.
