According to EACC, the trio incited members of the public against EACC officials when they raided Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya’s residence in Kitale on May 19, 2025.
The EACC officials were investigating Natembeya over procurement irregularities, abuse of office, bribery, and the fraudulent acquisition of Ksh1.46 billion.
“During the operation, Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) and senior county officials incited the public, resulting in the obstruction of officers, assault on law enforcement, and vandalism of five government vehicles valued at Kshs. 12.1 million,” EACC stated.
The commission disclosed that 24 other suspects linked to the incident have so far been arrested and charged with various offences at Kitale Law Courts.
Meanwhile, the three Trans Nzoia county officials are set to be arraigned before the Kitale Law Courts on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
“EACC affirms that it will not tolerate obstruction of justice or destruction of public property in the execution of its lawful mandate,” EACC added.
