Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has called on President William Ruto to make changes at the Ministry of Interior following the recent cases of insecurity.
Speaking on Sunday, June 8, Cherargei recommended that the President fire CS Kipchumba Murkomen and replace him with Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.
The UDA Senator expressed that Kindiki could hold both constitutional offices at the same time.
He added that Kindiki was best suited for the job, having served in the docket before becoming DP.
On the other hand, he explained that Murkomen has not been effective in his work, claiming that the CS was more focused on social media.

"The crime rate continues to go up and up. Therefore, if there is a possibility for Kindiki to become the Minister of Interior and a DP, then he can do it," he stated.
"The current Minister in charge is busy with social media and travelling outside the country. We gave him the budget that is needed, and we have also given him the laws, and therefore, I think it is time that changes must happen and heads must roll."
Additionally, the Senator, in a statement on Monday, June 9, condemned the police over the death of Albert Ojwang.
According to Cherargei, the Central Police Station needed to be closed as investigations into the mysterious death continue.
"I strongly condemn the alleged murder of Albert Ojwang while in police custody. I hope the family gets justice, and I appeal to Kenyans to give the police time to do a thorough investigation into this heinous act and travesty of human rights," he stated.
"The central police station should be closed & cordoned off because it is now a crime scene; because our police stations should be safe, have been a arrested before, I shudder to think about it."
