Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has expressed sorrow following the death of Albert Ojwang while in police custody, calling on security agencies to take immediate action.
In a statement on Monday, June 9, Sudi urged the government to stay true to its commitment to end extrajudicial killings.
“As a parent, the news of the death of Albert Ojwang has left me speechless. I can't imagine the pain his family is going through now.
“Security agencies must move fast and take appropriate action against the culprits. This administration vowed to end mysterious killings and has made great steps, but it seems there are a few weak links taking us back,” he said.
Sudi further extended his condolences to the bereaved family, stating, “I offer my sincere condolences to Ojwang's family and pray that God gives them strength.”

Investigations into Ojwang's death are ongoing, with the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) and other oversight bodies already involved in the case.
In a statement on Monday, June 9, IPOA said it had visited and documented the cell where Ojwang was locked in and dispatched officers to City Mortuary ahead of his postmortem exercise.
"As part of the investigation, the Authority has already visited and documented the scene, established contact with the family, and at present, has officers deployed at the City morgue where a post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place today," the statement read.
The oversight body also noted that it has interviewed five officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and recorded their statements.
"The findings thereof, shall inform the Authority's further communication to the public on the progress of investigation and recommendation to relevant State agencies and in particular, the Director of Public prosecutions in the event criminal culpability is established," the statement added.
In a media briefing earlier Monday, the Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, confirmed that Ojwang was arrested following a complaint lodged by Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat.
Kanja confirmed that the arrest was linked to allegations of defamation made by the senior police officer.
"The reason as to why the late Albert Ojwang was arrested, together with a few others, is because there was a complaint that had been lodged by the Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service (KPS), Eliud Lagat.
"The complaint was about his name being tarnished; it was on that basis that investigations were being carried out because he (Lagat) also has a right to be protected by the same law," he said.
