DCI boss Mohamed Amin has revealed observations Mbagathi Hospital medics observed on Albert Ojwang after being taken to the facility by police officers from Central Police Station.
According to a report presented to the National Assembly's National Security Committee on Thursday, June 12, Ojwang arrived at the hospital at around 2 pm.

"The above patient was brought in by officers from Central Police Station at about 2 am. On examination, he was unresponsive, had no spontaneous breathing, and no cardiac activity. The body was cold," Amin quoted the report verbatim.
"The face was swollen, with multiple bruises, and had bruises on the limbs. The patient was brought in dead. Police were advised to go to Kenyatta National Hospital Police Station and take the body to City Mortuary."
In an earlier police report, it was detailed that Ojwang was rushed to the hospital after being found unconscious in his cell.
Police, in their first statement, after the death of Ojwang, claimed that the deceased died as a result of hitting his head on the wall. However, this account of the event was contrary to the postmortem results, which noted that the deceased was assaulted.
Notably, while appearing before the Senate on Wednesday, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja apologised over the statement, adding that they were misled by officers at the Central Police Station.
"The officers who issued the initial report will have to face disciplinary action for providing incorrect information," the IG remarked.
"I tender my apology on behalf of the National Police Service over that report."
