IPOA Chairperson Ahmed Issack Hassan has revealed that Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat will be summoned at some point in the investigations into the death of Albert Ojwang.
Speaking before the National Assembly's National Security Committee on Thursday, June 12, Hassan detailed that they had opted to interview the DIG last.
He explained that IPOA investigators were of the view that they needed to take statements from other police officers first before they could speak to the DIG.
"Our technical team stated that they would have preferred to take statements from all the police men before they can confront him, being the final person who made the complaint.
"I think it is much better that way," he stated.

On the other hand, he revealed that they had interviewed over 20 people about the death. He noted that among those interviewed were the five DCI officers who went to arrest the deceased in Homa Bay.
Officers from the Central Police Station have also been interviewed by IPOA.
Additionally, he expressed that two civilians were also being treated as persons of interest in the case. The nature of their actions was not revealed.
"There are two civilians who are involved in a different way that we need to investigate," he stated.
Ojwang died while in police custody, with the postmortem report indicating that he was assaulted.
Apart from head injuries, the deceased also had neck compressions.
"The cause of death is very clear. A head injury, neck compression, and we also have other injuries on other parts of the body that are pointing towards assault," Pathologist Bernard Midia revealed.
"When you combine all the injuries in the body, they are consistent with a struggle."
