KeNHA has issued a notice alerting motorists to expect temporary traffic disruptions on the Nairobi – Nakuru – Mau Summit Road and the Nairobi – Maai Mahiu – Naivasha Road.

The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has issued a public notice alerting motorists to expect temporary traffic disruptions on two major roads.

In a notice on Wednesday, July 8, KeNHA said the affected routes are the Nairobi – Nakuru – Mau Summit (A8) Road and the Nairobi – Maai Mahiu – Naivasha (A8 South) Road.

According to KeNHA, the traffic disruptions will occur between Thursday, July 10, 2025, and Sunday, July 20, 2025.

The interruptions are part of a scheduled data collection exercise aimed at improving traffic management and infrastructure planning.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority seeks to inform the public on possible traffic disruption along the Nairobi – Nakuru – Mau Summit (A8) Road and the Nairobi – Maai Mahiu – Naivasha (A8 South) Road from Thursday, July 10, 2025 to Sunday, July 20, 2025,” the notice read.

The purpose of the exercise is to conduct a series of road surveys, which will involve brief stops where motorists may be asked to participate in interviews or share journey-related information.

KeNHA noted that the data collection will include Axle Load Surveys, Origin-Destination Surveys, Camera-Based Classified Cross-Sectional surveys, and Turning Movement Counts.

“This is to facilitate for scheduled interview surveys and data collection. During the data survey, motorists may be stopped to share their journey details,” KeNHA explained.

While the interruptions are expected to be minimal, the authority is appealing for public cooperation to ensure the success of the exercise.

"KeNHA appeals to motorists and other road users to cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” the notice concluded.

This comes a week after KeNHA announced traffic disruption on a section of Mombasa Road that forms part of the Northern Corridor connecting the port of Mombasa to Malaba.

The agency said the section in question, between Simba Colt and Ole Sereni, will be closed for seven days, between July 5 and July, 12 to pave the way for the maintenance works.

"KeNHA would like to notify the public of the temporary partial closure of the Nairobi-bound carriageway on A8 Road between FUSO (Simba Colt) and the Southern Bypass Interchange (Ole Sereni) from Saturday, July 5, 2025, to Saturday, July 12, 2025, to facilitate essential highway maintenance works along this section," read KeNHA's statement on Saturday, June 28.

The agency called on the motorists to comply with the rules on the ground and cooperate with the traffic marshals on site for seamless traffic flow.

"Motorists are requested to exercise caution around the work areas, follow the proposed traffic management plan herein and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site," KeNHA's statement added.
