The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced a slight drop in the prices of Super Petrol and Kerosene for the next month.

In a statement on Thursday, August 14, the regulator confirmed that both fuels will drop by Ksh1 per litre, while the price of Diesel will remain unchanged. 

The new rates will be in force for a 30-day period starting August 15, 2025.

"In accordance with Section 101(y) of the Petroleum Act 2019 and Legal Notice No.192 of 2022, we have calculated the maximum retail prices of petroleum products which will be in force from 15th August 2025 to 14th September 2025. 

"During the review period, the maximum allowable pump prices for Super Petrol and Kerosene have each decreased by Ksh1.00 per litre, while the price of Diesel remains unchanged," the statement read.

Following the changes, EPRA announced that Super Petrol will now retail at Ksh185.31 in Nairobi while Diesel and Kerosene will go for Ksh171.58 and Ksh155.58 respectively.

"In Nairobi, Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene now retail at Kshs.185.31, Kshs.171.58 and Kshs.155.58 effective midnight for the next 30 days," the statement added.

EPRA noted that the prices are inclusive of all applicable taxes, including the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT).

"The prices are inclusive of the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2024 and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020," the statement further read.

According to EPRA, the average landing cost of imported Super Petrol registered a small drop in cost, while Diesel and Kerosene became more expensive internationally.

"The average landed cost of imported Super Petrol decreased by 0.73% from US$628.30 per cubic metre in June 2025 to US$623.71 per cubic metre in July 2025; Diesel increased by 3.08% from US$616.59 per cubic metre to US$638.58 per cubic metre while Kerosene increased by 3.20% from US$608.54 per cubic metre to US$628.02 per cubic metre over the same period," the statement added.
