In a notice on Thursday, the party said registration for interested candidates closes on Friday, September 5, at 5PM.

The United Democratic Alliance Party (UDA) has announced that party nominations will be held on Saturday, September 20, ahead of by-elections in several parts of the country. 

In a notice issued on Thursday, September 4, UDA said registration for interested candidates closes on Friday, September 5, at 5PM.

"Notice is hereby given that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party nominations shall be held on 20th September 2025. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply for nomination by registering through the UDA party portal accessible at www.uda.ke," the notice read.

According to the party, nomination fees for Member of County Assembly (MCA) aspirants are set at Ksh50,000 for male candidates and Ksh25,000 for female, youth, and persons with disabilities. 

For Member of Parliament (MP) seats, male candidates will pay Ksh250,000 while female, youth, and persons with disabilities will pay Ksh125,000. 

For Senate seats, male candidates will pay Ksh250,000 while female, youth, and persons with disabilities will pay Ksh125,000. The fees are non-refundable.

By-elections will be conducted for six National Assembly constituencies, namely Banissa, Kasipul, Magarini, Malava, Mbere North, and Ugunja. 

They will also be held for the Senate seat in Baringo County, as well as for MCA seats in Angata Nanyokie Ward in Samburu County, Chemundu/Kang’etuny Ward in Nandi County, Chewani Ward in Tana River County and Fafi Ward in Garissa County.

Other wards where by-elections will be held include Kariobangi North Ward in Nairobi City County, Kisa East Ward in Kakamega County, Kabuchai/Chwele Ward in Bungoma County, Metkei Ward in Elgeyo Marakwet County and Mumbuni North Ward in Machakos County

They will also be held in Narok Town Ward in Narok County, Purko Ward in Kajiado County, Tembelio Ward in Uasin Gishu County, Nyansiongo Ward in Nyamira County, Nyamaiya Ward in Nyamira County, Ekereny Ward in Nyamira County, Lake Zone Ward in Turkana County and Nanaam Ward in Turkana County.

This comes a week after ODM Party invited interested aspirants to submit their applications for party nominations in both parliamentary and county assembly seats declared vacant by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

In a notice on Friday, August 29, ODM’s National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) Chairperson, Emily Awita, confirmed that the invitation follows the electoral body’s Gazette Notice declaring vacancies in multiple electoral areas.

"Pursuant to the declaration by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of vacancies in various electoral areas across the country, vide Gazette Notice No. 11160 of 8th August 2025, The National Elections Coordinating Committee (NECC) hereby gives notice to all interested applicants in the following electoral areas to submit applications, in the prescribed format, to the Party Headquarters at Chungwa House by 5:00 p.m., Monday 8th September 2025," the notice read.

In terms of nominated fees, male aspirants for parliamentary seats will be required to pay Ksh250,000, while female candidates, youth, and persons with disabilities will pay Ksh125,000.

For county assembly seats, male applicants will pay Ksh50,000, while female candidates, youth, and PWDs will pay Ksh25,000.
