Dennis Itumbi has announced that the 60,000-seater Talanta Sports Stadium will host the 2025 Jamhuri Day Celebrations.

The Head of Creative Economy and Special Projects in the Office of the President, Dennis Itumbi, has announced that the 2025 Jamhuri Day Celebrations will be held at the Talanta Sports Stadium along Ngong Road.

In a statement on Friday, September 12, Itumbi said this year’s Jamhuri celebrations will be under the theme of Tourism, Wildlife, and MICE.

Itumbi announced the venue after a meeting with Tourism Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano.

He noted that they agreed to form a team to develop a comprehensive concept for the national celebrations.

“This year’s Jamhuri Day celebrations will be held under the general theme of Tourism, Wildlife, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions). Talanta Stadium will host the country on 12th December 2025.

“We held our first planning meeting with Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano, where we agreed on forming an initial team to develop a comprehensive concept. Once the concept is finalized, detailed planning for the celebrations will begin,” said Itumbi.

The Talanta Sports Stadium, which is still under construction at the Jamhuri ground along Ngong Road, has a capacity of 60,000.

The government set up the stadium in preparation for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, which Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania will co-host.

The construction works at the stadium are expected to be completed in December 2025 before the Jamhuri Day celebrations.

Meanwhile, the Mashujaa Day Celebrations on October 10 will be held at the Ithookwe Stadium in Kitui County.

The 10,000-capacity stadium, which is being put up at a cost of Ksh 700 million, is nearing completion.

The government is also upgrading the Kitui Airstrip and surrounding roads ahead of the celebrations.

Initially, Kitui was to host the June 1 Madaraka Day celebrations, but the government changed it to Homa Bay County.
