Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions in 15 counties on Wednesday, October 15, to allow for routine maintenance works.
In a notice on Tuesday, October 14, the company said the maintenance exercise will affect several areas across Nairobi, Kiambu, Kajiado, Machakos, Nyeri, Murang’a, Embu, Nyandarua, Samburu, Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Kitui, Garissa, Kilifi, and Kwale counties.
The power interruptions will generally run between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. depending on the region.
In Nairobi County, outages will hit South C, Parklands, and Kayole areas from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Affected locations in South C include Akiba Estates, Five Star Estates, Bellevue School, Masjid Bukhari Mosque, St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic, and Nairobi Water, among others.

Parts of Parklands, including Wangapala Road, Iregi Road, and sections of 4th and 5th Parklands Roads, will also experience outages.
In Kayole, customers along Spine Road, including Komarock Primary School, Naivas Supermarket, Co-op Bank Kayole, and Mugandi Police Station, will be affected.
In Kajiado County, the power will go off in Ngong Vet and surrounding areas from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The affected zones include parts of Ngong Town, Olepolos, Vetfarm, Bulbul, Kangawa, and the entire Kerarapon area.
Machakos County will also face interruptions along Beijing Road in Katani, affecting industries and residential estates such as Allpack Industries, Blowplast, Canon Chemicals, Greatwall Apartments, and Katani Lounge.

In Nyandarua and Samburu counties, the outage will cover Rumuruti, Maralal, and Samburu from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting areas like Rumuruti Town, Mwanza Limited, Suguta Marmar, Kisima, and the entire Maralal region.
Uasin Gishu County will experience interruptions in Kapkoros Primary and Kabongo/Kaburwo areas, while in Nandi County, power will go off in Sigot, Cheptil, and surrounding localities.
In Nyeri County, Kenya Power will switch off electricity in Ndima-Ini Market, Kirimara High School, Bellevue, and Gatarakwa, affecting markets, factories, booster stations, and nearby schools.
Embu County residents in Gatitu, Kune, and Kageere will also be affected, with outages running from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., impacting areas such as Kageeri, Kui, Kanduri Dispensary, and Kivoo.
In Murang’a County, the blackout will cover Gitugi, Gaturi, and Nyakihai, including locations like Kahigaini, Gathukeini, Mukurwe wa Nyagathanga, and Gaturi Girls School.
Kiambu County will see interruptions in Ruaka Town, Joyland, Ruiru Prisons, and BTL, affecting Total Ruaka, Quickmart Ruaka, Kiuna Road, Kenya Tents, and Redland Roses.
In Garissa County, power will be out in the entire Garissa Town between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Areas to be affected include the County Government offices, Garissa University, Modika Barracks, Garissa Solar Plant, and nearby regions such as Madogo and Sankuri.
Residents of Kitui County in Mwingi Town and Kithyoko Town will also be affected. The outage will extend to areas including Wikithuki Irrigation Scheme, Kyuso, Tseikuru, Nuu, and Migwani.
In Kilifi County, power will be off in Kilifi Town and Bofa, covering the County Offices, Kilifi Hospital, and Kiwandani.
Lastly, Kwale County residents in Mshiu and Lungalunga will experience interruptions, with areas such as Mwangwei, Lungalunga Hospital, and KRA Horohoro affected.
