President William Ruto on Monday, November 3, departed the country for Doha, Qatar, where he is expected to engage in a series of high-level meetings.
In a statement to newsrooms, State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said the trip would see the Head of State participate in the United Nations Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD2).
"President William Ruto departs this evening for Doha, Qatar, to strengthen economic partnerships, attract investment, and participate in the UN Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD2), which will focus on poverty reduction, decent work, and social inclusion," he said.
Ruto is also expected to hold high-level talks and seal major investment agreements targeting infrastructure, energy, and transport modernisation projects.

"He will hold talks with several world leaders, including His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, and strategic development initiatives," Mohamed added.
According to Mohamed, the visit will also focus on expanding Qatari investments in agriculture, renewable energy, tourism, and logistics.
"Building on these engagements, the President will advance expanded Qatari investment and strategic partnerships in agriculture, particularly food security and climate-smart farming, as well as in renewable energy, green hydrogen, health, tourism, transport, and logistics. He will also engage Qatari business leaders to broaden public-private partnerships," he added.

Mohamed noted that Ruto will also prioritize youth employment by pursuing an expanded labour agreement between Kenya and Qatar.
"To expand youth employment and strengthen diaspora contribution, the President will pursue the expansion of the Kenya-Qatari Bilateral Labour Agreement to include more professional and technical roles, and enhance skills-training aligned with Qatar's labour market needs.
"This will create new pathways for young Kenyans and support those already working in Qatar as they continue contributing to both economies," he further said.
During the summit, Ruto is expected to deliver statements on behalf of Kenya and the Africa Group, advocating for reforms that promote fairness and representation in global systems.
"At the summit, the President will deliver statements on behalf of Kenya and the Africa Group, calling for fair global financial systems, universal access to essential services, strengthened multilateral cooperation, and reforms that enhance African representation at global organisations and advance shared prosperity," Mohamed concluded.
The visit comes weeks after Kenya condemned Israel’s attack on a building in Qatar that left six people dead and destroyed property on Tuesday, September 9.
In a statement on Thursday, September 11, the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs said the move by Israel to bomb Qatar amounts to a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Ministry also noted that the attack poses a threat to regional and international peace and security.
"The Government of the Republic of Kenya notes with great concern the attack on a building in the State of Qatar that resulted in casualties, loss of life and property on Tuesday, 9th September 2025. On its own admission, the State of Israel carried out this bombing.
"The attack is not only a clear violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the State of Qatar, but also poses a serious threat to regional and international peace and security," read the statement in part.
The ministry said that Israel’s attack on Qatar violates international law, undermines the principles of peace and security, and contravenes the United Nations’ 1970 Declaration on Principles of International Law concerning Friendly Relations and Cooperation among States.
Further, Kenya asked Qatar and Israel to exercise restraint and prioritise dialogue and diplomacy over violence.
"Kenya urges all parties to exercise restraint, uphold the sovereignty and territorial integrity of other states, prioritise dialogue and diplomacy over violence, and commit to peaceful coexistence," the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs concluded.
