Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni has broken his silence days after retired president Uhuru Kenyatta cautioned him and other party officials against attacking other leaders.

Speaking on Tuesday, November 11, Kioni said Uhuru was referring to the lack of proper communication in the party.

The Jubilee SG said the party’s communication team will be having a retreat on Thursday, November 13, 2025, to establish strategies for effective communication.

“What the party leader was referring to is our ability to communicate. And now we have understood that communication must come from one person, the spokesperson of the party.

“The day after tomorrow, we are having a retreat for our team involved in communication so that we can agree on the narrative and the way to communicate,” said Kioni.

The former Ndaragwa MP also said the party will be focusing on communicating about real issues affecting Kenyans.

“We are bringing the house to order; you will be seeing every oiled machinery that will be able to communicate effectively. We will be talking about issues,” added Kioni.

Further, the Jubilee secretary general mentioned that the former ruling party did not have functioning structures following the 2022 general election.

“We did not have functioning structures in the office; all the departments are now being established, and we are going to take them to the ground,” he remarked.

On Friday, November 7, during a meeting with grassroots leaders in Murang’a county, Uhuru cautioned Jubilee party members against attacking other leaders.

Uhuru discouraged the behaviour, noting that political disagreements should never lead to personal insults.

"Let's stop insulting other leaders. Even if you do not like them, there is no need for insults. Respect is the only sustainable value," he said.

The retired President expressed his frustration with Kioni, who has, on different occasions, attacked former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Uhuru stated that he doesn't want to be associated with the insults, warning that those engaging in them will be chased away from the party.

"Sometimes I get angry when I see leaders who claim to be fighting for the Jubilee Party but do so by insulting others. I'll tell you, Kioni, these stories I see online, people claiming to be in Jubilee insulting others, including Gachagua, I don't want to be part of that. If I see someone doing this, I will have them chased out of Jubilee," Uhuru stated.
