Leaders from both the government and opposition came together on Thursday, November 13, at the British High Commission in Nairobi to celebrate King Charles III’s 77th birthday.
Opposition leaders in attendance included Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha, and Kathiani MP Robert Mbui.
From the government side, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Trade Cabinet Secretary Lee Kinyanjui represented the administration.
Also present was Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairperson Erastus Edung Ethekon.

The reception was hosted by the British Chargé d'Affaires in Kenya, Ed Barnett, drawing diplomats, political leaders, and invited guests for the annual celebration.
In a statement after the event, Kalonzo expressed his appreciation for the invitation and extended his goodwill on behalf of his party and supporters.
"It was a great honour to join friends from the United Kingdom community here in Kenya this evening to celebrate the birthday of His Majesty King Charles III. On my own behalf, I extend my warm congratulations and best wishes to His Majesty and to the people of the United Kingdom," he said.

Kalonzo also praised King Charles III for his global leadership on environmental conservation.
"His Majesty’s lifelong commitment to caring for our environment and promoting sustainable development continues to inspire many across the world.
"At a time when the effects of climate change are being felt everywhere, his leadership reminds us of our shared duty to protect our planet and uphold the dignity of all people," he added.

Kalonzo further expressed optimism about the ongoing relationship between Kenya and the United Kingdom.
"As we celebrate this special occasion, may the friendship between Kenya and the United Kingdom continue to flourish, grounded in mutual respect, partnership, and a shared vision for a just and sustainable world," he further said.
