Nairobi Women Representative Esther Passaris has clarified her position regarding the 2027 Nairobi Woman Representative seat, dismissing reports and edited posters suggesting she has endorsed anyone for the position.
In a statement on Friday, November 22, Passaris sought to set the record straight amid growing speculation about her political plans and alleged endorsements circulating on social media.
"Over the last 24 hours, I've seen several edited posters circulating online. Let me set the record straight," Passaris stated.
The lawmaker confirmed her intention to exit the Woman Representative seat after completing two terms by 2027, emphasizing the affirmative action nature of the position.
"By 2027, God willing, I will have completed two full terms as Nairobi Woman Rep. This is an affirmative action seat, and I believe it is time for another woman to lead," she explained.

However, Passaris was categorical in denying any endorsements at this stage. "To be clear: I have not endorsed anyone for the seat. It is far too early for that, and I will not be drawn into political games, misinterpretations, or manipulated graphics," she stated firmly.

The clarification comes after speculation intensified following remarks Passaris made at an event on Wednesday, November 19, where she discussed her plans to step down from the affirmative action seat after two terms.
During that event, she had mentioned nominating Senator Karen Nyamu as one of the potential contenders for the position, encouraging her to publicly declare her intentions.
Passaris had urged Nyamu to be confident about her political ambitions, wishing her well in her potential bid.
"Karen is not bold enough, so I'm going to do this for her. I said I was not going to run for Woman Rep again and the reason why I'm not going to run again in 2027 is because it is an affirmative seat if I have done it for two terms I need to look for something else to do," she said.
"Karen is one of the contenders for Woman Rep; don't come here and say, 'I'm thinking', you are running. I wish you all the best.”
These remarks subsequently led to the circulation of posters and reports suggesting a formal endorsement, which Passaris has now disputed.
In her Friday statement, Passaris emphasized her commitment to party loyalty, noting that as an ODM leader, she will respect the party's decision when the time for nominations arrives.
The Woman Representative concluded by refocusing attention on her current mandate.
"My focus remains on service, delivery, and being part of Kenya's shift from politics to prosperity," she said.
