Deputy President William Ruto sparked jitters among followers of President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM Leader Raila Odinga following a series of strategic meetings ahead of the 2022 general election.
The DP's meeting with Economist David Ndii has caused unrest among members of the Kieleweke faction which identifies with President Kenyatta.
The two are believed to have discussed issues affecting the Kenyan economy and how it can be revamped, and the road to State House in 2022.

Ndii has been one of the biggest critics of President Kenyatta's economic approach, which has seen the country claw deeper into debts.
The economist has often called out the Head of State for his handling of the Covid-19 pandemic and economic decisions made over the period.
"My understanding is that Ruto wants to challenge the politics of ethnic mobilisation such as the ethnic kingpin model proposed in BBI with politics of the economy hence his reaching out to economic and other policy experts," Ndii stated in April 27.
The meeting with Ndii comes after the DP met former Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Governor Prof. Njuguna Ndung'u, who pledged to help him develop the new economic model through the African Economic Research Consortium, Karen, Nairobi County.
The two meetings indicate DP Ruto's continued efforts to formulate a winning strategy and team ahead of 2022.
The DP had also been tasked by Mount Kenya legislators allied to him, to come up with a plan on how to revitalise and rejuvenate the Kenyan economy which they claim has been retarded by the President Kenyatta regime.
The deputy president will today hold a meeting with an 11-member committee from Mount Kenya, handpicked to negotiate for the region.
Ruto will also listen to an economic recovery plan that will be presented to him by a team chaired by Ndii.
Two weeks ago, over 62 members of parliament met at the home of Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua in Karen where the team was formed.
The MPs stated that the team would negotiate for the economic and political gains of the Mount Kenya region.
Ruto's retreat comes a day after ODM leader Raila Odinga met with Mt.Kenya elders at his Karen home in Nairobi County, on Friday, April 30
In a statement, Odinga said that he and members of the Kikuyu Council of Elders led by their Chair Wachira Kiago, discussed how they would work together in future.
