President William Ruto's expansive Kilgoris home in Narok County will be the centre of attention Saturday, August 8, as the president's daughter, Charlene Ruto, undertakes her traditional engagement ceremony.
Traditionally referred to as Koito, the rite officially unites the bride’s and groom’s families, featuring dowry discussions, the exchange of gifts, and a ceremonial farewell as the bride departs her ancestral home.
Charlene will be reportedly getting betrothed to Isaiah Yunke, a Tanzanian tech entrepreneur .
Yunke, celebrated as a Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 alumnus and recipient of the Queen’s Young Leaders Award, kept his relationship with Charlene largely private until the wedding announcement.
Owing to the status of Charlene as a president's daughter, the event is expected to draw high-profile attendances, including Tanzanian president Samia Suluhu.
