Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has raised concerns over alleged threats against his planned visit to Emurua Dikirr in Narok County.
In a letter dated Thursday, August 20, and addressed to Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja, Gachagua said he will visit the constituency on Friday, August 21, after being invited by DCP candidate Vincent Rotich, who contested the May 14 by-election.
"I write to formally inform you that on 21st August 2026, I will visit Emurua Dikirr Constituency, Narok County, upon invitation by the DCP Party candidate, Hon. Vincent Rotich; he contested the 14th May 2026 by-election and was the 2nd in the race amidst widespread rigging and voter manipulation. I will join thousands of DCP supporters in the company of leaders from across the country for this thanksgiving occasion," he wrote.
According to Gachagua, his decision to visit the constituency has been met with threats from the sitting MP, David Keter, and other individuals.
He said the threats have been captured on video and circulated on social media and reported by mainstream media.

"My attention has, however, been drawn to threats issued by the current Member of Parliament for Emurua Dikirr, Mr. David Kipsang Keter and a handful of others, which have been recorded on videos, shared online, and reported by the mainstream and social media, that my entourage and I should not set foot in Emurua Dikirr on 21st August 2026," he added.
Gachagua further alleged that Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo had financed Keter to mobilise individuals whom he claimed could cause violence during the planned visit.
"This, you are adequately aware of. Be well informed that the instructions issued to Mr. Kipsang are that the Homa Bay chaos should be a shadow of what needs to happen in Emurua Dikirr," he claimed.

Gachagua reminded Kanja of his constitutional responsibility to protect lives and property, asserting his right as a Kenyan citizen to travel freely within the country and exercise freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution.
"Mr. Kanja, I wish to remind you that you took the oath of office to protect human life and property for all Kenyans. I also wish to adequately inform you that I am a Kenyan with the right to visit any part of the country, and I have the right to enjoy the freedoms guaranteed under the Constitution of Kenya. Note that Emurua Dikirr is part of Kenya," he further said.
Gachagua also warned Kanja that he could face legal consequences over the handling of security matters, alleging that President William Ruto, Murkomen and Omollo were setting him up to face criminal charges at the International Criminal Court.
"You either take charge of the Police Service ahead of the 10th August 2027 General Election or resign. You will recall General Mohamed Ali, the former Commissioner of Police, and his interaction with the ICC following the 2007/08 post-election chaos due to his sins of omission and commission," he noted.
Gachagua then put three questions to Kanja, seeking assurances that adequate security arrangements had been made ahead of his planned visit.
He asked the police chief to assure Kenyans that he, his entourage, and residents of Emurua Dikirr would be protected.
Gachagua also sought confirmation that Kanja was aware of the planned presence of his supporters in the constituency and had put in place measures to safeguard lives and property during the visit.
This comes a day after Gachagua claimed that the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) was allegedly after him.
Speaking on Wednesday, August 19, he claimed that he had received a tip that KRA was looking for him as part of a deliberate scheme to go after anyone in Mount Kenya with money.
Gachagua reiterated that he barely had anything left, adding that if push came to shove, KRA should just arrest him or take his family.
"Everyone who has money has received letters from KRA. I hear that they are also looking for me, but there is nothing left that they can take because they took everything.
"KRA, unless they arrest me, I have nothing. Maybe they can take Pastor Dorcas or our children," he said.
Gachagua accused KRA Chairperson Ndiritu Muriithi of using the tax agency to mistreat his own people, while allegedly following orders given by Ruto.
He declared that he would not allow Muriithi to join DCP to run for Laikipia Governor, and cautioned the residents of the county against voting for him.
"He thinks that Laikipia residents are stupid; that he can hurt them using KRA, then come and be elected as governor. How do you persecute a community and you want to become their leader?" he posed.
