We Expect a Total Breakup in Linda Mwananchi - ODM MP

Nyaribari Masaba MP Daniel Manduku has predicted divisions within the Linda Mwananchi movement, arguing that cracks could emerge along the lines of the political parties represented in the coalition.

Speaking on Thursday, September 17, Manduku said the movement would face challenges arising from the different party structures of its members.

"We expect total breakup in Linda Mwananchi. The cracks will emerge along those registered party lines. Sifuna and Babu Owino were the future of ODM only if they remained in ODM," he said.

Manduku argued that leaving a political party could weaken a politician's ability to mount an effective campaign, citing the importance of established party structures and machinery.

He said Sifuna and Babu had realised the significance of party machinery after leaving ODM.

"The mistake they made was to bolt out of our party but now they've understoond you cannot run a political campaign without a party machinery," he added.

Elsewhere, Suna East MP Junet Mohamed sensationally claimed that Babu reached out to him to complain about the infighting in Linda Mwananchi.

Speaking on Wednesday, September 16, the MP claimed that Babu opened up about the reservations he had about the faction which is led by Sifuna.

Junet claimed that his colleague was concerned about Linda Mwananchi's direction following a myriad of events within the faction in recent times.

"There is infighting within Linda Sponsor, which has now become Linda Sifuna. Yesterday Babu Owino called me, and he was crying like a three-year-old baby.

"He told me that he did not know that those in Linda Mwananchi were taking him in the wrong direction," he claimed.

Junet intimated that he advised Babu to return to ODM, so that they could rebuild the Orange Party together. He added that under ODM, he was more certain about his gubernatorial bid.

"Babu, please come back home to ODM. Let us build the party together so that we can help you if you want to become the governor," he added.

At the same time, Babu denied claims of a strained relationship with Sifuna.

Speaking on Tuesday, September 15, he stated there was no reason for him to be at loggerheads with Sifuna because there was no conflict of interest, as they were running for different seats.

Babu further denied allegations that he was jealous of Sifuna and was trying to sabotage Sifuna's presidential campaign.

"Those who are in doubt of the relationship that I have with my brother Sifuna, you have to know that I have no particular challenge or problem with him.

"Some are even going as far as saying that Babu is jealous of Sifuna. Babu Owino is vying for Nairobi Governor, and Sifuna is vying for president. There is no conflicting interest. There is no way Babu will fight Sifuna, so do not bring tension where there is none," he said.
