United Democratic Alliance (UDA) chairman for Homa Bay County Franklin Oluoch is counting losses after unknown people attacked him Saturday night, September 20.
According to reports, Oluoch and his team were intercepted by suspected thugs near the Makongenoi Estate in the outskirts of Homa Bay town.
Whilst Oluoch escaped unharmed, his vehicle was reduced to ashes.
Amateur videos captured firefighting personnel from the Homa Bay County government striving to put the fire out. Regardless, the damage had irredeemably occurred.
Police confirmed the incident, indicating the investigation is already underway to determine the motive behind it. No arrests in connection with the matter have been made.

In other UDA-related news, a grassroots delegates meeting convened in Kericho on Saturday, September 19, descended into disorder as opposing factions clashed.
The session, held in Sosiot within Belgut Constituency, had been organised to brief attendees on ward‑level grassroots elections, part of a nationwide exercise bringing together polling centre officials.
Tensions flared when some delegates accused organisers of mismanaging proceedings, sparking heated exchanges.
Complaints also arose over the alleged inequitable distribution of party merchandise such as branded T‑shirts and caps, with others voicing demands for allowances.
Patrick Korir, one of the delegates, insisted that participants should receive sitting and travel allowances, claiming that similar benefits were being issued elsewhere.
His remarks fuelled discontent, and at the peak of the confrontation, several members staged walkouts while others chanted "one‑term", intensifying the pressure on officials.
Police were eventually called in to restore order, but their intervention brought the meeting to an abrupt end.
The unrest in Kericho followed closely after the party announced changes to its grassroots election timetable in Kisii and Nandi counties, moving the polls from Saturday, October 3, to Friday, October 2.
The National Elections Board (NEB) explained the adjustment was made to respect the Sabbath observance of Seventh‑day Adventist members.
Registration, which opened on September 12, will close on September 27, with candidate verification slated for September 28.
The NEB confirmed aspirants will not pay registration fees, and voting will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The announcement came shortly after UDA cancelled grassroots elections in Garsen Central Ward due to disruptions and irregularities.
