Kindiki dared the leaders who took issue with his endorsement as Mount Kenya spokesperson to contradict the elders.
On Monday, September 21, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki called out leaders questioning his endorsement as the Mount Kenya Region spokesperson.
Speaking in Tharaka, Kindiki told the leaders who took issue with it to seek redress with the community's council of elders.
He said that those opposed to his endorsement had disrespected the elders and dared them to go against their will.
"Even if you do not respect the fireman. Respect the elders. If you think you are the most popular person, I dare you to contradict what the elders have said," the DP reiterated.
Kindiki reckoned that some of the leaders who assumed that they were the 'gods' of the Mount Kenya region were in for a rude shock in the upcoming General Election.
"People have become ungovernable and developed ,a lot of pride. When they speak, they think that they are gods but they are just small people. Wait and see, next year, we will beat them hands down," he stated.
His statement came a day after his endorsement by the elders at Kirigiti Stadium and drew a lot of reactions from the leaders from the Mount Kenya region
Democracy for the Citizens Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua dismissed Kindiki's call to unite the mountain during his coronation.
Gachagua argued that Kindiki only resolved to push for unity of the mountain after he and Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku had failed to split it into two.
"Mr Kithure Kindiki and Mr. Geoffrey Kiringa Ruku have thrown in the towel, not because they want the unity of the mountain, but because they have miserably failed," he wrote.
The DCP Leader dismissed the elders, claiming that they were individuals who had allegedly been offered Ksh3,000 each to attend the endorsement.
He accused President William Ruto of trying to split the Mount Kenya region, split Linda Mwananchi and cause conflict in the United Opposition. Gachagua reckoned that all three plans would fail.
