KPLC Announces Power Supply Cuts in 8 Counties on Wednesday

Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions across eight counties on Wednesday, September 30.

According to the notice, the interruptions will affect selected areas in Nairobi, Kakamega, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Nyeri, Embu and Kitui counties. 

In Nairobi, four areas have been listed for power interruptions from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

These include Riverside Drive and Mzima Springs, where affected areas will include part of Riverside Drive, Riverside Gardens, Mzima Springs Road, part of Tende Drive, Riverside Lane, and Strathmore High School.

IOM Mzima Springs, Mandari Kindergarten, German Embassy, Uganda High Commission, Riverside Square, Riverside Gardens, One Riverside, Riverside Padocks, Millenium Apartments, Key Stone Office Park and Riverside Mews will also be affected.

The Mombasa Road section will also experience an interruption from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., affecting REREC Offices, Nice & Lovely, Manchester Knight, Viraj Complex, Crown Health, Auto Express, Total Petrol Station Mombasa Road and adjacent customers.

Customers around Serena Hotel and St. Andrews will also be affected during the same period. The interruption will cover Nyerere Road, Mamlaka Road, Upper State House Road, Serena Hotel and adjacent customers.

Another Nairobi interruption will affect Raphta Road and Lantana from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

Areas listed include Raphta Road, Consolata Church, Lantana Road, David Oseile Road, Church Road, part of Mahiga Mahiru, Ring Road Westlands, East Church Road, Fox Close, part of Mvuli Road, Rehema House, Oracle, Kipro Centre, Waridi School and Chandarana Raphta Road.

In Kakamega County, power will be interrupted in Khayega from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The affected areas include Iguhu Hospital, Khayega, Makhokho Secondary School, Shishesia, Ivonda and Shirere.

Kisumu County will have two scheduled interruption areas. Tido will be affected from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., covering Tido Primary School, Mbeme Primary School, Ooko Market, Kolewe, Rarieda and adjacent customers.

Cibo will also experience an outage during the same period, affecting Tamu, Cibo, White Coal Kibos Industries and adjacent customers.

In Homa Bay County, the Yala Kotieno area is scheduled for a power interruption from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

The affected areas include Yala Kotieno Secondary School, Kalanding Secondary School, Ong’amo Dispensary, Rangach Madiny Village and adjacent customers.

Migori County will have an interruption covering Kehancha and Ntimaru from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

The notice lists the whole of Kehancha Town, Kegonga, Ntimaru, Wangirabose, Senta, Kebaroti, Nyamagagana, Namba, Taranganya, Angatta Sugar, Kobinto, Kebare, Matare, Maeta, Kurutiange, Kombe and Koromaguncha among the affected areas.

In Nyeri County, Miiri and Kiangai will experience a power interruption from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Areas listed include Miiri Market, Miiri Kiawaiguru, Kiangai, Maganjo, Kiangai Market, Kianyange, Kiangai Coffee Factory, Kianwe, Thunguri Coffee Factory, Borokelo, Karerahungu, Njumbi, Kiahiti TBC, Kiriko TBC, Gitundumo TBC, Kiambogo Village and Kiaragana Village.

The Major Seminary area in Nyeri will also be affected from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with Judge Mukunya, Karson Estate, Gachengo Family, Catholic Hostels and adjacent customers listed in the notice.

In Embu County, Gachoka, Meka, Muraru and Rwika will experience a power interruption from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

The affected areas include Embu Airstrip, Don Bosco, Jeremiah Nyagah Technical, Gachoka Market and DO’s, Kuku Afya, Kangeta, Fides, Highland Canners, Gachuriri Market, and Yonder Water Pumps.

Others are Rugakori Primary School, Kamucinga, Muraru Market, Muraru Primary School, Meca Market, Kangungi Primary School, Mbita Primary School, Kamwimbi Primary School and Emidan Farm.

Kitui County will have a scheduled interruption in Kangweni, Nzangathi and Kanzauwu from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

The affected areas include Kangweni, Kivumbuni, Kwa Makombo, Nzangathi, Kanzauwu and adjacent customers.
