Residents of Kiambaa constituency have protested the presence of National Assembly Majority Leader Amos Kimunya at Kimuga polling station.

Chanting the famous phrase 'Kimunya must go!' that was popularised by then Ikolomani MP Boni Khalwale in 2009, the voters at Kimuga voting station confronted Honourable Kimunya demanding to know why he was at the polling station.

The residents claimed that Hon. Kimunya is neither a voter nor an agent for Jubilee Party's candidate and that his presence was an attempt to influence the election.

In his defence, Hon. Kimunya said he was an agent for the Jubilee Candidate Kariri Njama.

"What is he doing here? Let him leave," voices in the crowd say before chants begin calling for him to leave begin.

 

The Kiambaa constituency by-election was necessitated by the demise of two-term member of parliament Paul Koinange in March this year.

The polls have provided the latest battleground for Deputy President William Ruto's allied UDA Party and the ruling Jubilee Party headed by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Jubilee is facing a battle to redeem itself after several embarrassing losses in the president's home ground.

Juja constituency by-election left Jubilee with an egg on its face after its candidate lost to George Koimburi of PEP, a party led by Moses Kuria who is an ally of DP Ruto.
