Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has issued a statement on the rising cases of murders and disappearance of women and children in the country.
Raila Odinga sent out a 10 paragraph statement on his social media accounts that called on the police and judiciary to ensure perpetrators of such acts face the law.
"Death has been hanging over Kenyans for some time now with a surge in the murders and rape of children, girls and women," the statement read in part.

The former Premier lamented that children and women are suffering at the hands of the people who are supposed to be their protectors.
In the strongly worded statement, Raila termed it as unacceptable that children were getting kidnapped in playgrounds, on their way home and slaughtered by adults while women were getting killed by close family members.
"This brutality is becoming a new normal, just another news item in our country," Raila wrote.
He went on to urge the Kenya Police Service to do better in its goal of ensuring Kenyans are safe while asking the judiciary to ensure justice is done "swiftly and fairly where lives have been senselessly lost".
This comes as Kenya sees a rise in cases of child kidnappings and murders.
In the past week, detectives have nabbed two serial killers who specifically targeted minors.
Masten Wanjala Milimu confessed to the murders of 13 minors in the Nairobi Metropolitan area and western Kenya while Evans Juma Wanjala was arrested for allegedly defiling and killing 5 girls in Uasin Gishu.
the rise in such cases points to a tear in the country's moral fabric as former Prime Minister Raila Odinga noted in his statement.
