Siaya Senator James Orengo has urged Members of Parliament to summon Deputy President William Ruto to appear before them and share what he knows about deported Turkish Businessman Harun Aydin.
Speaking on Friday during the burial of Mzee Ajwang' Nyakwamba; father to Senator Moses Kajwang and Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang, Orengo appeared to suggest that the government made the right decision in deporting Aydin, arguing that so far, no complaints have been registered from the Turkish government or its embassy.
“Today a committee of the National Assembly brought Matiang’i to give evidence on this Turkish Man. I want the media to note that since this man was deported, there has been no statement of protest from the Turkish Embassy or from the Turkish Government because they know his habits,” Orengo said.
He questioned Aydin’s recent travels to the East African region, claiming that it is not practical for the businessman to travel from Turkey to Uganda via Kenya. According to Orengo, it is highly likely that Aydin was working on fishy activities.

“It has been established that the working permit this Turkish man had was a forged permit…It has been established that this was the process of money laundering. How can you have business in Uganda, instead of leaving Turkey and going to Uganda directly, you pass through Nairobi, they were trying to create a network for money laundering…We must summon Ruto before the parliamentary committee to speak on these matters and give us an answer if he is being truth…Let him come before a parliamentary committee,” he said.
On Friday, CS Matiang'i disclosed that Aydin gave a dummy contract after claiming he was working in the energy sector.
The Interior CS further revealed that the Turkish businessman was sneaked into the country.
"Harun Aydin’s track movement is a characteristic of people involved in money laundering & terrorism. His passport shows, he has left the country twice without a stamp of arrival; this means he was sneaked into the country," Matiangi's said while appearing before the National Assembly’s Committee on Administration and National Security on Friday, August 13.
