Businessman and founder of Mololine Sacco Kibera Muchai is dead.
Confirming his death, the family disclosed that Mr. Muchai passed away on Tuesday at the Nakuru Level Five Hospital where he was undergoing treatment after a short illness.
Muchai was the founder of Mololine Sacco, a pioneer Matatu organisation that has revolutionised public service travel in the country.
Mololoine shuttles plying the Nairobi-Nakuru route are among the most popular in Kenya.
Following his death, condolence messages have been pouring in from leaders.

Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika eulogized Mr. Muchai as an astute businessman who revolutionized the transport sector in the country.
"Mr. Kibira Muchai of Elburgon, Molo has had an accomplished career in business and politics spanning several decades.
As we mourn his passing on, we celebrate a man who leaves behind a rich legacy as an astute, visionary and charitable businessman. Notably, Kibira was a founder member of Mololine sacco, a pioneer matatu sacco that revolutionized public service travel in Kenya. Go well sir, may your soul rest in eternal peace and May God comfort your family," Kihika wrote on her Facebook page.
Molo MP Kuria Kimani mourned Mr.Muchai as a distinguished businessman and politician.
"Kibera Muchai, such a great soul. Such a staunch politician and businessman. I still can’t believe you are gone. Rest in power my friend. Rest In Peace finest of our motherland," Mr. Kimani tweeted.
