The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has finally taken action after the shooting incident involving the police in Gatung’ang’a, Mathira in Nyeri County.
In a statement, IPOA Chairperson Anne Makori called for calm as they look into the matter promising that the authority is committed to being impartial and fair.
“In line with provisions of IPOA Act, which dictates that injuries occasioned by actions of the police be investigated by the authority, a Rapid Response team has been dispatched to the area with instructions to obtain all relevant information that may be relevant in unveiling the circumstances surrounding the incident,” said Makori.
“Where fault is found, the authority shall not hesitate to make recommendations, including but not limited to prosecution.”
In the Friday night shooting incident, a man sustained serious bullet injuries.
