Interior Principal Secretary Dr Karanja Kibicho has dismissed claims that the government issued red alerts against exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna, therefore blocking his return that was scheduled for November, 16.
In his court papers that were presented in court on Thursday, Dr Kibicho noted that he is not aware of any red alerts against Miguna issued by the Kenyan government or any of its agencies.
“I confirm that no government agency has issued any so-called red alert to Air France and Lufthansa Group (operating as German Airlines) in relation to Miguna’s travel to Kenya,” Kibicho’s court papers read in part as quoted by a local daily.
Explaining why the lawyer was blocked from returning to Kenya, Kibocho argued that Miguna was travelling using his Canadian passport and therefore needed a visa to enter the country.
He said for Miguna to return and be allowed into the country, he must visit he Kenyan embassy in Canada and get the right documentation.

Miguna through his lawyers argue that he is a Kenyan citizen by birth and want all red alerts issued against him withdrawn.
The court will issue a ruling on the case on November 22, 2021.
Meanwhile, Miguna was scheduled to return on November 16, 2021 but was blocked from boarding an Air France plane in Germany on grounds that a red alert had been issued against him.
"This is to inform Kenyans and the world that @airfrance officials at the check-in counter at the Berlin Brandenburg Airport have just informed me that the Government of Kenya sent them a "red Alert" this morning that they cannot fly me to Nairobi. I'm waiting for a copy," Miguna tweeted.
