Kenya Railways Corporation has suspended its Nairobi Commuter Rail Services during the festive season till January 2, 2022.
The corporation issued a statement on Wednesday, December 28, with the title 'Scaling Down of Nairobi Commuter Rail Service During the Festive Season,' the corporation notified the public of the planned changes, which started on December 28.
The five areas within Nairobi and its outskirts where its services will be halted include- Ruiru, Embakasi Village, Limuru, Syokimau, and Lukenya in Kitengela.

"The Services below are operational during this festive period," the statement hinted. They include:
1. Madaraka Express Passenger service to and from Mombasa/Nairobi is operational daily.
2. Madaraka Express Passenger service between Nairobi and Suswa Station in Narok, operation on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
3. The Link Service between Nairobi Central Station and Nairobi Terminus every day at 0635hrs,1200hrs, and 2010hrs.
4. The Safari Train to and from Nanyuki/Nairobi operates on Fridays and Sundays.
5. The Safari Train to and from Kisumu/Nairobi operates on Fridays and Sundays.
According to the corporation, the agreement was reached after deliberate consultations within the management. However, one user commented over the matter, asking about rides to Uganda.
"When will we ride to Uganda?," a social media user named Senior Moran asked.
"Rehabilitation of the Railway line is ongoing and in due time, we will announce the commencement of the service to the neighboring country....^WE^," KR replied.
