President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday bid farewell to outgoing State House Chief of Staff Mr Nzioka Waita.
Waita is leaving his role to contest for the Machakos gubernatorial seat in the forthcoming general elections.
"At a meeting held at State House Nairobi, the President accepted Mr. Waita's resignation and thanked him for his exemplary service in the portfolios he held over the 7-year period including oversighting implementation of flagship Gov't projects as Head of the PDU delivery," a statement by State House read.
On his part, Waita thanked the President for the opportunity to serve Kenyans.

"As I bid farewell to the House on the Hill, I wish to thank President for the honour of appointing me to be a member of his administration and for allowing me the humbling privilege to serve the people of Kenya in various different capacities over the past seven years," part of his statement read.
Mr. Waita had earlier announced that today would be his last day in office as he eyes the Machakos governor's seat.
"I will work till the 9th of Feb. I will make a farewell call to the president and ask for his blessings and support and thank him for allowing me to work for the people of Kenya in his service," he stated.
