Magata Bruce Mackenzie from Gilgil Hills Academy is the best candidate in the 2021 Kenya Primary Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination results.
Speaking while releasing the results on Monday, Education CS Prof. George Magoha said that Mackenzie scored 428 marks.
This was a drop of five marks from the 433 marks posted by the best candidate in the 2020 KCPE examination result.
The CS said that 315,275 candidates scored between 300 and 399 marks in the exam, while 578,197 candidates scored between 200 and 299 marks.
He further added that 5,567 examiners were involved in the marking.

"In these exams, over 174, 910 professionals were engaged to administer them. We also had 5, 567 examiners engaged in marking of exams," the CS stated.
Prof. Magoha stated that there was an improvement in performance in six papers, namely; English language, English composition, Science, Kiswahili, Insha, Social Studies and Kenya sign language composition.
However, there was a drop in performance in Mathematics, English Language, and religious studies.
In terms of gender, CS Magoha said that female candidates performed better than male candidates in the English language and Kiswahili (lugha).
1,225,507 candidates sat for the 2021 KCPE examination.
