Azimio presidential candidate Raila Odinga has issued a statement hours after the Supreme court delivered its ruling on the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) bill.
The Supreme court ruled that President Uhuru Kenyatta cannot initiate a popular initiative terming it a reserve of the common wananchi.
Odinga reacting to the ruling, noted that they would not stop deliberations on the way forward adding that they would turn the attention to the August general election.
"We will not stop deliberations on the way forward that will decide on a future course of action that protects the interests of all those who voted to see the amendments come to light. For now, we have an election to win," the former Prime Minister said.

While delivering the ruling, Koome noted that the appeal was allowed on five matters and two disallowed.
The two matters that were disallowed include President Kenyatta cannot initiate a popular initiative and BBI's new 70 Constituencies were unconstitutional.

The Supreme Court framed the issues as follows;
1. Basic Structure Doctrine does not apply to Kenya.
2. President cannot initiate a popular process. President initiated BBI Bill.
3. Second Schedule proposing 70 constituencies was unconstitutional.
4. President cannot be sued personally while in office.
5. There was inadequate public participation (on the Second Schedule).
6. IEBC was quorate and competent to handle the BBI Bill.
7. Issue of multiple question was not ripe for determination.
