The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has recommended the removal of High Court Judge Said Juma Chitembwe from office.

In a press statement dated April 28, JSC said that it had received petitions seeking the removal of Chitembwe on allegations of impropriety and gross misconduct, initiating the removal of the judge.

“The commission would like to notify the public that the panel constituted to consider the petitions concluded its work and presented its report to the full commission for hearing,” read part of the statement signed by Chief Justice Martha Koome.

The CJ further stated that the judicial commission considered the report of the panel and was satisfied that the petition disclosed grounds for the removal of Justice Chitembwe.

“At its meeting on April 27, 2022, the JSC considered the report of the panel on the petition initiated by the commission in its own motion, and is satisfied that the petition discloses grounds for the removal of Hon. Justice Chitembwe Juma from office, pursuant to the provisions of Article 168(1) of the Constitution, the CJ added.

CJ Koome further stated that her commission resolved to send the petition to President Uhuru Kenyatta for further action.

She assured all Kenyans that JSC is committed to ensuring that the values of integrity and accountability are embedded within the commission.
