Azimio secretariat Executive Director Raphael Tuju has revealed why the coalition party failed to give a copy of its agreement to Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua and his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi.
In a press briefing on Monday, May 9 at Serena Hotel, the former Jubilee Secretary-General said that Azimio knew about the plans of the two county bosses.
According to Tuju, the two governors needed the document for the purposes of benchmarking their next move. He said that Azimio knew it from its intelligence and therefore declined to issue it out.
“Some of them were negotiating with the other side and needed this document for purposes of benchmarking, and since we knew this from our intelligence, there was no reason to continue to engage them,” he told the press.

He further said that the parties of the two who ditched Azimio had read the agreement before signing and thefore they knew what they signed.
Before ditching Azimio, governor Mutua had claimed that Azimio had declined to give his Maendeleo Chap Chap party a copy of their agreement.
“@MCC_Party has in today’s Governing Council meeting decided to go to court & demand to get the document so as to see what changes have been made, if any. It's unfortunate that we're in a coalition relationship whose members have to go to court to get what's their automatic right,” Mutua tweeted on Friday.
Mutua has since joined Kenya Kwanza Alliance with Kingi having not yet to made public his move even after Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula claimed that he had joined the DP William Ruto-led outfit.
