Kalonzo's name was missing from the list of 16 candidates who are set to undergo further vetting on Sunday

Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka is among the presidential candidates whose names are missing from the recent list released by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

According to reports, IEBC has only remained with 16 candidates out of the initial 56. The remaining 16 are, however, set to undergo another advanced vetting process to be conducted by the electoral body this coming Sunday.

According to IEBC, out of the remaining 16 candidates, eight are Independent candidates while the other remaining are candidates who will vie using their own parties.

Among the candidates remaining and set to run using their own parties include Raila Odinga of Azimio, William Ruto of UDA, Prof. George Wajackoya (Roots Party) David Mwaure Waihiga (Agano Party) Jimi Wanjigi (Safina) Dr. Ekutru Aukot (Third Way Alliance) Mwangi Wa Iria (Usawa kwa Wote)and Njeru Kathangu (Ford Asili).

The remaining Independent candidates are; Gibson Ngaruiya Ng'ang'a, Dorothy Kemunto Nyangori, Peter Mubiko King'ori, Jeremiah Nyaga, Jane Juliet Munyeki, Faith Wairimu Ngigi, Eliud Muthiora Kariara, George Munyotta Kamau.

The 16 candidates will be required to present more papers to the IEBC on Sunday, May 29, 2022, for further vetting with their number expected to come further down.

Among the documents these candidates are required to present before the IEBC include clearance from; the anti-corruption body EACC, the DCI, Higher Education Loans Board HELB, and Commission for University Education CUE.

However, despite presenting all the required documents including copies of IDs from supporters, Kalonzo Musyoka's name was not among the remaining 16. It is reported that Wiper's discussion with Azimio la Umoja and agreement to have Kalonzo back into Raila's camp could have been the major reason.

Kalonzo, who is expected back into the country from the United Kingdom over the weekend, has stated that he will make a big announcement at a grand rally in Kilgoris, Narok County on Tuesday, May 31.

He is expected to announce his decision to relent on his presidential bid and support Raila's presidential bid for the second time in a span of two months.

Kalonzo will thereafter embark on a five-day Ukambani tour to campaign for Azimio La Umoja flagbearer, Raila Odinga.
