Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission has hit back at the Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru for denying involvement in graft and accusing the EACC of a witch hunt because of her political allegiance.
In a rebuttal, EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak dismissed Waiguru terming her comments as shameful.
"Governor Anne Waiguru's comments are extremely shameful, as Kenyans know her well, including her social standing on integrity," Twalib said as quoted by NTV.

Waiguru in her defence had lashed out at the EACC for persecuting her wrongly.
She claimed the EACC mentioned her on the graft-related list because she joined Deputy President William Ruto's camp.
"Were it not for constitutional safeguards that separate investigations, prosecution, and adjudication, Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) on behalf of their Harambee House masters would have hanged some of us for moving to United Democratic Alliance, UDA. on the basis of rumour, frivolous allegations & cooked stories without the need for a trial," Waiguru said in a social media post.
EACC had written to the IEBC shortlisting 241 candidates it deemed unfit to be cleared to vie.
Waiguru was among those mentioned.
The Kirinyaga county boss has however dismissed the move saying it won't stop her from being on the ballot.
"Fortunately culpability under our law is determined on the basis of evidence & not by them. Trying to manage electoral issues through institutional State capture won’t cut. Not in this Kenya!"
