Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has now demanded an apology from UDA Mombasa Governor Candidate Hassan Omar.
In a tweet on Monday, August 29, the legislator questioned why Omar would brand voters militia.
"Why call voters militia? I demand an apology from Hassan Omar for soiling my otherwise good name," Owino stated.
This comes hours after Omar alleged that a section of ODM leaders was on Monday bribing and intimidating voters during the voting exercise in Mombasa County.

The UDA candidate went ahead and mentioned Babu Owino threatening to take action if police officers failed to act.
"There has been a bit of incidence where some people tried to attack a car that was delivering food to our agents and widespread voter bribery by ODM and we have asked the police to manage or in the next hour we will manage it ourselves. We will take no prisoners. It's time to live by democracy. Within the next one hour, if we see Babu Owino moving with militia and bribing voters, we will enforce that by ourselves," Omara claimed after voting in the morning.
Omara however exuded confidence that he would succeed outgoing Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.
“The mood in Mombasa is that we are winning. I only have an acceptance speech, not a concession speech,” Omar stated.
Omar is facing stiff competition from former Mvita MP Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, who is running for the seat on an ODM ticket.
