Raymond Moi of KANU has lost his bid to retain the Rongai parliamentary seat after losing to UDA's Paul Chebor.

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) declared Chebor the Rongai MP-elect after he garnered 27,021 votes against Raymond's 14,715. Luca Kigen of CCM garnered 593 votes.

Raymond first won the seat in 2013 and was reelected in 2017.

UDA's Paul Chebor.

Minutes after voting on Monday, August 29, Raymond accused a section of UDA leaders of bribing voters and intimidation.

"We were told there will be two policemen and each candidate should have two agents. IEBC said nobody should be 400 metres from the polling station if he or she is not an accredited official.

"We had agreed that no elected leaders would act as agents but now I can see UDA leaders have been issued IEBC badges and they can access polling stations and centers at will," he said."I think these elected leaders roaming all over Rongai with their mobilisers and other agents is not fair," he claimed.
