Heartbroken, the deputy president took to social media to mourn his eldest brother.

The family of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is in mourning following the demise of their kin.

Jack Reriani, the eldest brother to the deputy president, passed on on Saturday, September 24.

This came a couple of days after he called on the deputy president at his Karen residence where post-inauguration celebrations were held.

The cause of the death is yet to be mentioned. Rigathi took to social media where he mourned his departed brother.

"We spent quality time for three days during our inauguration. You were so happy, jovial, and full of life. We shared beautiful moments of our life back in the village. I had the opportunity to thank you for paying my school fees in high school. We agreed on your enhanced role to lead the Kirigo family in view of my National duties," the deputy president wrote.

"We parted happily and agreed that I would come home after we settle down to discuss family matters. Little did I know that those beautiful moments we shared would be our last. The news of your passing on last night hit me hard as I remain alone among the Kirigo sons. My heartfelt condolences to your family, the Kirigo family, the larger Gachagua family and the extended Reriani family. May the almighty God give your wife and son the strength to bear the loss.
I love you big the way you have always loved me," he added.

Others leaders joined in to send condolences to the bereaved family as they put up with the loss.

Four months back, the deputy president mourned his other brother Joseph Reriani who had battled an illness.

In 2017, the family lost their other kin, Nderitu Gachagua, who was the first governor of Nyeri county.
