Why Citizen TV Journalist Trevor Ombija is Under Fire on Twitter

Citizen TV Journalist Trevor Ombija on Wednesday morning led the Twitter trends as Kenyans turned his remarks at a meeting called to deliberate on noise pollution into a topic of discussion.

Viral video of Ombija talking, presumably, in a stakeholder's meeting bringing together bar owners and residents sparked mixed reactions among Kenyans with "some castigating him for being reckless.

In the video, Trevor, who is now emerging as a club owner, is heard saying that if a bar is near a residential area, more than half of the residents should be able to raise complaints about noise pollution for the matter to be addressed.

"When there is a complaint about the bar owner or a restaurant, let us have more than half of the residents complaining. If the apartments are 20, 15 of them should show us their lease, sign and tell us there is a problem.," Trevor said in the viral video.

It is however his remarks on offering to soundproof the house of a neighbor who complained about noise pollution from her entertainment joint that got Kenyans talking more.

Apparently, the neighbor had raised a complaint against him and he instead offered to soundproof his house.

"This particular neighbour of mine I even offered to soundproof her house. I started with her room and she said no, it has to be the entire house. And I said fine,  for me to get any sound proof I need to get a permit from the county government, show me your lease, get a confirmation from your landlord and if they are okay with it I am going to do that," she said.

But in a rejoinder to his trending, Trevor said accused the neighbor of having a grudge with him after a business deal flopped.

"I have a neighbour who wanted us to shutdown because I did not give her a landscaping job. We reduced our volume completely all other neighbours were ok with our attempts, except her so I offered to go the extra mile of soundproofing as a last resort she still refused."
