According to local reports, the journalist and his driver are said to have been on their way to Nairobi from Magadi when they were implored to stop at the roadblock by police officers stationed there

However, his driver allegedly breached the roadblock and Mr. Sharif was shot in the head and killed.

The details surrounding his death remain scanty with the wife saying he was shot in Kenya on Sunday.

“I lost friend, husband and my favourite journalist [Arshad Sharif] today, as per police he was shot in Kenya,” she tweeted.

Sharif was previously associated with ARY News and had gone to Dubai after resigning from the channel.
