Four of their colleagues had earlier been arrested and arraigned over the disappearance of two Indians and their drivers.

Five more officers from the disbanded Special Service Unit that was based at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations department have been arrested. 

Their arrest follows that of their four other colleagues who were arraigned on Tuesday over the disappearance of two Indians and their driver.

The Indians were to join President William Ruto's IT campaign team before they went missing.

The five were arrested at the Internal Affairs Unit Headquarters in Nairobi on Wednesday, October 26.

The arrested are  Corporal Joseph Mwenda Mbaya, Corporal David Chepcheng Kipsoi and Constable Stephen Luseno Matunda.

Others are Constable Paul Njogu Muriithi and Constable Simon Muhanga Gikonyo.

The group has been detained at Industrial Area Police Station, the Makadara police division's Headquarters. 

The internal Affairs Unit of the police in a report seen by Nairobi Leo said the group will be arraigned today (Wednesday, October 27).

"Please be informed that the police mentioned above officers from DCI Headquarters formerly from the disbanded Special Service Unit (SSU) were arrested on 26/10/2022 at Internal Affairs Unit Headquarters and placed in custody at Industrial Area Police Station," the IAU report read in part.

"This is a result of IAU inquiry file no. 194/2022. To be arraigned before the court on Thursday 27/10/2022," it read.

On Friday last week, four SSU officers were arrested and they are yet to be released.

The group has been linked to extrajudicial killings and enforced disappearance.
