Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja has held talks with the new Inspector of Police Japhet Koome over the rising cases of Insecurity in Nairobi.

In a statement revealing the talks, Sakaja said they agreed to meet to share solutions to the rising security challenge in Nairobi county.

He said it is both the responsibility of the county and national government to ensure residents are safe.

"Just spoken to the new Inspector General of police Japhet Koome We have agreed to meet and share solutions and tasks in restoring order and security in Nairobi. Security may be a National Function but it’s our shared responsibility. We will support our officers as they protect our people," he said.

The looming intervention comes at a time when Kenyans have been lamenting over the rising cases of mugging in the City.

Many have been captured in CCTV recordings being robbed of their valuables with thugs riding on boda boda becoming a major concern to all.

After being sworn in Friday morning, IG Koome said those taking part in the robbery will face the law.

He warned of dire consequences saying he will not hesitate to take action against those taking part in illegal activities.
