American billionaire Bill Gates, who is the country for a series of meetings, met with the Council of Governors on Thursday, November 17.
Speaking during the meeting, COG chairperson Anne Waiguru lauded the efforts by the Bill and Melinda Foundation to set up a regional office in Nairobi.
She further reiterated the commitments of county governments in championing devolution for effective service delivery and urged all partners, including the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, to work closely with the counties.
The meeting centered on deployment of technology, innovations to address primary healthcare, enhancing food security and building community resilience to climate change.

Co-creation of projects with counties and the COG, smart Agriculture and measurement of outcomes in devolved sectors were also deliberated in the meeting.
"COG today held a Consultative meeting with Philanthropist Bill Gates, Co-Chair of the Gates foundation. The Council & Bill Gates discussed areas of partnership in the sectors of Health, Agriculture, Climate Change, and Knowledge management for improved service delivery," read a statement by the COG.
The Council recommended a direct partnership with the Bill and Melinda Foundation for effective delivery of its mandate.
"The Council has recommended enhanced direct partnership with the Foundation for effective delivery of its mandate of knowledge and best practice sharing. The COG has also recommended bringing to scale innovations that have been successful in other similar jurisdictions," COG stated.
