Safaricom has announced that it will refund the fee for the first Mpesa send money transaction.

Safaricom has announced that it will refund the fee for the first Mpesa send money transaction for its customers on Wednesday, October 23.

In a statement, the telecommunications giant explained that this gesture is part of its celebration of 24 years since launching its services in the country.

"Thank you for 24 years. Safaricom will refund the transaction fee for your first M-PESA send money transaction of the day," Safaricom stated.

At the same time, the company announced a 25 percent discount on the Business Fibre 50 Mbps package for the first month.

"Enjoy 25% OFF the Business Fibre 50mbps package for the first month. Powering Progress with unbeatable connectivity solutions. Safaricom Business-keeping your business connected," Safaricom remarked.

Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa expressed gratitude to the company's customers, noting that their support has helped Safaricom grow from a telco into a key driver of empowerment.

Safaricom officially launched its services in Kenya on October 23, 2000.
