Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir has pledged support to the family of popular influencer Mariam Antonet Lwande, known to many as Digida, following her untimely death.
In a statement on Wednesday, October 29, Nassir mourned Digida as a beloved figure whose impact extended far beyond Mombasa.
"We have lost one of Mombasa’s brightest and most beloved personalities. Mariam Antonet Lwande, fondly known to many as Digida, brought laughter, light, and authenticity to our social circles and online spaces.
"Her vibrant energy and relatable charm connected her deeply with the people of Mombasa and beyond," he said.
Nassir announced that the County Government would clear her hospital bills and offer assistance to her family as they mourn the loss.

"On behalf of the County Government and the people of Mombasa, I extend heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and the entire creative community.
"The County Government has made the decision to offset her hospital bills. We will stand with the family during this trying time. Indeed, to The Almighty we belong and to Him we shall return," he added.
Tributes have since poured in from fans and fellow influencers, who described her as genuine, cheerful, and endlessly creative.
Digida ran a catering business in Mombasa and was often spotted with Kenyan celebrities including Bien, Masauti and Cassypool, as well as political leaders including Aisha Jumwa and Principal Secretary Fikirini Jacobs.
Elsewhere, this comes days after the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) announced the death of its Secretary General, Davji Atellah’s father.
In a statement on Sunday, October 26, the union described the late Mzee as a resilient man who had been battling illness but remained positive and in good spirits.
"We regret to announce the passing of Dr. Davji's father earlier today. Mzee has been fighting a chronic illness for some time now but was recently in very high spirits and in a good state of mind," the statement read.
KMPDU further extended its sympathies to Atellah and his family, urging members and the public to keep them in their thoughts and prayers.
"May we pray for grace and calmness to the Secretary General and indeed his extended family during these difficult times. The loss of a father represents major dynamic shifts within a family unit," the statement added.
